On August 31 2017, the city of Rueil-Malmaison, in partnership with Bouygues Bâtiment Ile-de-France, applied for Handiamo! to organize a day of discovery of Paralympic sports, as part of its support for the bid of Paris 2024.
The numerous inhabitants present were thus able to initiate themselves to different Paralympic disciplines alongside the greatest French champions, including athletics framed by Timothée ADOLPHE (blind athlete, European champion in 100m and 200m, bronze medalist on 400m at the world championships, 100m and 200m European recordmaker) and his guide Yannick FONSAT, fencing armchair framed by Cyril MORE (quintuple gold medalist in fencing armchair at the Paralympic Games) and basketball chair with 4 players from the France team.
Challenges were organized on each of the sports workshops, rewarding the most deserving and performing participants in the eyes of the Paralympic champions.
The event continued with sports exhibitions carried out by the disabled champions present.
In athletics, Timothée ADOLPHE and his guide Yannick FONSAT faced the fastest pairs of participants, a pair of firefighters with impressive physical potential.
In fencing the spectators had the privilege to witness an exhibition assault between Cyril MORE and Valérie BARLOIS (gold medalist in fencing at the Olympic Games in Atlanta).
In basketball the 4 players of the French team (Samir GOUTALI, Pathy KOTI BINGO, Karim KHELAIFI and Louis HARDOUIN) clashed in two against two under the admiring eye of the public present.
At the end of the event, the Rueil-Malmaison Town Hall and the Bouygues Bâtiment Ile de France partner thanked the champions present and emphasized the exceptional moment of sharing and conviviality they had all participants.
This day gave all the participants and spectators present a foretaste of the moments of exceptional sharing and conviviality that Paris is about to live if the organization of the Olympic Games and Paralympic of 2024 is entrusted to him.

To ensure that each of us can achieve and flourish through beautiful moral values. Our support for this Paralympic event was a great tribute to the right to be different. Thank you Handiamo, thank you Bouygues! What happiness thanks to this great human warmth! «
Testimony of Florence CURVALE, Director of Territorial Development at Bouygues Construction: « Children, adults, elected officials, professionals, discovered Paralympic sports on the forecourt of the City Hall of Rueil on August 31st. It was not easy for the « able-bodied » to put themselves in a handicap situation, but the Paralympic champions present made us share their passion for the sport and their performances in good humor. I particularly appreciated the conviviality of the event, the simplicity of the exchanges and this moment of sporting sharing. Repeat regularly to learn how to live together. A big thank you to the city of Rueil-Malmaison for its welcome and the dynamism of its team and Handiamo! for a perfect organization « .
